While participating in the construction of a house, students become familiar with all stages of construction from site preparation to interior finish work. This may include
the following skills: carpentry, siding, roofing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, heating, painting and staining, various flooring applications, cabinet installation, and finish trim
work. Transportation to the construction site is provided.
In the second year, students can gain additional expertise in the planning and building of a house. Second-year students are given the opportunity to strengthen areas of weakness and to serve as lead carpenters in areas where they have developed confidence and expertise.
